Summary:

Are God’s Words or the words of society influencing you? The words that are influencing you produce your thoughts; your thoughts produce your emotions; your emotions produce your decisions; your decisions produce your actions; your actions produce your habits; your habits produce your character; and your character leads you to your ultimate destiny. Therefore, if God’s words govern your thinking, your destination will be favorable. If your thinking is governed by the norms and values of society, the opposite will be true.

    1. Sober thinking is thinking that is not under the influence of anything or anyone.
      1. Alcohol and drugs cause a person’s thinking to be under the influence of chemical substances.
      2. While under the influence of alcohol or drugs, thinking is distorted.
      3. Likewise, thinking according to the norms of society can also cause our thinking to be distorted.
      4. When we face problems in our lives, our thinking should be sound.
      5. The way we think will determine how we handle unexpected events in life.
      6. Hurtful situations happen to all of us.
      7. The way we think is critical to how we will respond to those situations.
      8. However, being under the wrong influence or thinking will cause us to react in the wrong way.
    2. Our ability to change depends on our willingness to change our thinking.
      1. Therefore we must free our minds from anything that may wrongly influence us.
      2. When we develop thinking that agrees with the Bible, our thinking becomes sound.
      3. The only book that can give us true information concerning life, death, and what happens after death is the Bible.
      4. Whenever you have a question about any situation in your life, find out what the Bible says about it first.
  2. How we live our lives here on Earth determines what happens to us after we die.
    1. Life is a series of decisions.
      1. Making the decision to make Jesus the Lord of your life is the most critical decision you will ever make.
      2. This one decision determines where you will spend eternity.
