School District To Sponsor Prayer Walk
The Waskom ISD is planning a prayer walk This morning to remember two students who died in a house fire last week. Funeral services for Isaac and Hector Pedraza are scheduled for Wednesday. School officials had already announced they were delaying the return to school for students for a day so students could attend the services for the eight and 12-year olds. When classes resume on Thursday, extra counselors and staff will be on hand for students and staff. Tomorrow’s prayer walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Waskom High School. Waskom is in Harrison County in far East Texas.

Texas ranks first for new arrivals in 2025, U-Haul study shows
Texas leads the country in new arrivals, according to U-Haul’s annual Growth Index. The Lone Star State regained the top spot in 2025 after falling to No. 2 in 2024. U-Haul customers arriving in Texas made up over 50% of all one-way traffic in and out of the state. North Texas suburbs like Celina, Forney, and McKinney are popular destinations for out-of-state movers. The Sun Belt region, particularly the South, saw significant migration in 2025, while northern states ranked lower in the study.
