Getting Less Sleep Is Bad For You

Getting less than seven hours of sleep a night is a strong predictor of a shorter life expectancy. That’s according to a new study published Tuesday in the journal SLEEP Advances. Researchers found that sleep was more effective in predicting a shorter life expectancy than any factor except smoking.
Sleep deprivation can be caused by stress, depression, poor eating habits, or a condition such as sleep apnea.
Getting a bad night of sleep now and then is annoying, but not a health risk. However, chronic poor sleep may increase the likelihood of developing dementia, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity and even cancers of the breast, colon, ovaries and prostate.
Poor sleep can also affect the ability to function while performing daily tasks like working or driving.
Nashville Brothers Launch App to Connect Neighbors for Small Tasks
A pair of Nashville brothers is rolling out a new app designed to bring neighbors closer together by helping each other with everyday household tasks. It’s called Taskquatch, and Guy and Itay Cherkesky say it was inspired by their own parents needing simple help like changing smoke-detector batteries or figuring out a remote. The app connects people with nearby neighbors instead of strangers across town, and it’s already soft-launched in Nashville with about a thousand users and dozens of volunteers. The brothers also created a nonprofit task force to support seniors and disabled residents who may go weeks without seeing anyone.
This seems like a great thing to do all over the world
