BUSINESSES PUT ON ‘WALL OF SHAME’: At a press conference Monday, Mayor Sylvester Turner announced three venues had been placed on the city’s “Wall Of Shame” including Spire Houston, Pour Behavior and Prospect Park. While Spire argues that it is not a club but rather a reception hall, Prospect Park on Fountainview had its liquor license suspended for 30 days for failing to comply with the Governor’s order that all bars must be closed.

“Back in November of 2019, the main owner had come to the realization that he no longer owned a bar,” Bret Hightower, a consultant for Spire told ABC13. “He owned a lounge/venue hall because most of the revenue was not coming from alcohol or liquor sales. It was coming from ticket sales, and then to be able to reserve your own private section.”

In phase 3, all businesses in Texas will able to operate at 50 percent capacity, effective immediately. All businesses must follow minimum standard health protocols to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The reason why Phase 3 is in effect now is due to Abbott saying the latest COVID-19 cases are largely the result of “isolated hot spots in nursing homes, jails and meat packing plants.”

On June 12, restaurants can reopen their occupancy levels to 75 percent. and counties with 10 or fewer active COVID-19 cases may expand their occupancy limits to 75 percent.
