When Alabama lineman Quinnen Williamswas taken by the New York Jets with the #3 overall pick in last night’s NFL Draft, it meant history was made. Not for Williams, but rather his agent, Nicole Lynn.

The 30-year-old Houstonian via Tulsa, Oklahoma works as a sports agent for Lil Wayne‘s Young Money APAA Sports. Signing Williams to the agency was a detour for the company as they had mostly represented veteran players. Nabbing a highly touted prospect like Williams meant the company was making sure it became a known player in the sports world and meant Lynn was quickly becoming more than just a rising star.

She first signed on to work at PlayersRep, a top NFL agency back in 2015. She made history then when she became the first female agent to represent a top company. Young Money acquired PlayersRep two years later.

“Lil Wayne got into the business for the same reason I got into the business,” Lynn told The Undefeated about her aspirations and that of her boss. “He wanted to give back to players. He wanted to help them when football was over. At the end of the day, we can all identify with this. Lil Wayne doesn’t need this money, this sports money. It isn’t for that. He’s doing it for a bigger purpose, and I love that. I love working with people every day that walk with the same purpose, and that’s superpowerful.”

The University of Oklahoma graduate holds a degree in Business Administration, Business Management and in 2015 graduated from the College of Law with honors. She also is a litigation attorney at Norton Rose Fulbright in Houston.

Despite a rough upbringing in Tulsa, she credits it as one of the factors that pushed her to succeed. “The adversity I experienced as a child definitely shaped my mindset as an adult. I knew that I wanted to escape that life, and I had to work hard to do it. So I have always done just that. I owe every bit of success I’ve achieved to my extremely dedicated work ethic and my unwavering faith in God.”
