South Houston Children’s Shelter Decimated by Harvey Gets Helping Hand
Facility Starts Road to Recovery With All-New Furnishings Arriving Friday, October 6 at 9 a.m.
The Story
When Harvey floodwaters wrecked a south Houston children’s emergency shelter and group home, 76 children who previously escaped life-threatening situations of abuse or neglect once again found themselves in dire straits.
Now with repairs underway and its children back in residence (after moving to an Angleton daycare facility), Kidz Harbor is receiving a major boost with all-new home furnishings from Ashley HomeStore.
Sofas, dining tables, dining chairs and end tables will furnish the facility’s living room, reception area, recreation room, therapy room and dining room.

What Else
Kidz Harbor provides a safe and secure haven for children birth to 18 years in a 36-bed shelter. The facility’s 32-bed residential therapeutic group home provides basic and moderate care of at-risk children ages 6-18 with a team of qualified caseworkers, counselors, doctors, educators and other professionals.
