Viola Davis was one of the many inspirational celebrities parodied on Halloween, but the best Viola costume came from her own daughter, Genesis.

The adorable four-year-old refused to dress up as the popular Disney character Elsa or a pirate. Instead, she wanted to be her Emmy Award-winning mother. The How To Get Away With Murder actress posted a photo of her daughter on Instagram with an Emmy-like award, natural curly tresses, a touch of red lipstick, and one beautiful smile.

Davis made history as the first African-American woman to win the Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama in September.

The 50-year-old has also stayed vocal about the need for more Black women in both leading roles and behind the scenes. In a roundtable discussion for The Hollywood Reporter, Davis expressed how happy she was that HTGAWM creator Shonda Rhimes gave her the opportunity to play someone outside her element.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

I had never seen a 49-year-old, dark-skinned woman who is not a size 2 be a sexualized role in TV or film. I’m a sexual woman, but nothing in my career has ever identified me as a sexualized woman. I was the prototype of the “mommified” role. Then all of a sudden, this part came, and fear would be an understatement. When I saw myself for the first time in the pilot episode, I was mortified. I saw the fake eyelashes and, “Are you kidding me? Who is going to believe this?” And then I thought: “OK, this is your moment to not typecast yourself, to play a woman who is sexualized and do your investigative work to find out who this woman is and put a real woman on TV who’s smack-dab in the midst of this pop fiction.

Davis, Taraji P. Henson, and Lupita Nyong’o were just a few other actresses young girls dressed up as for Halloween.
