We approach this season with a sense of hurry. We are overburdened by parties, shopping and decorations. This season is not for any of that. Today is a perfect time to think about those we love who are no longer with us.

Anticipation for Christmas is like the anticipation to be reunited with our loved ones. We know that there is intenses joy at reunion.

1 Thessalonians 4:13

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

Can you imagine the joy of seeing your long lost parent or child that you lost? Your heart will be over filled with just the glimpse of it.

Earlier this year we saw the success of the movie “Heaven Is Real”. There is a poignant quote in the book tha reminds of just how we should celebrate Christmas.

“It’s fun to talk about heaven, about the throne of God and Jesus and Pop and the daughter we thought we had lost but will meet again someday. But it’s not fun to talk about how we got there.”

We celebrate Christmas but not the process that gets you there.  Take a moment to comfort someone who feels isolated.  Welcome someone who has does not know your workplace or your  neighborhood. Help the woman whose arms are burdened with children. These are all acts that help celebrate the real meaning of Christmas.

Are you ready?
