(HOUSTON) – They did it!  Houston’s Westbury High School Band is making its way to Canton, Ohio for Michael Strahan‘s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

NEWS 92 FM’s Carolyn Campbell reports:

The band students and parents worked overtime for the past few months trying to raise enough money to pay for their trip to Canton.

Despite a few bumps along the way, band booster president Princina Thomas says the two busloads of students are ecstatic.

“They are extremely excited about having an opportunity like this,” Thomas said. “They’re looking forward to showing what they do best, to be in the parade and march, and to represent the school.”

Thomas says the plan is for Westbury’s band to march behind Strahan in the parade.

And she adds the band has a surprise gift for the Westbury alum.

“We’re going to present a signed jersey with the number [Strahan] used to have when he played football at Westbury,” Thomas said. “All the kids had an opportunity to sign it.”

The parade is set for Saturday morning.
