HOUSTON, TX)– A local insurance agent is going to prison for pocketing his clients premiums. Christopher Vernon Murphy agreed to plead guilty to theft and to repay about $75,000 to his clients.
Murphy was convicted of taking payments from about forty clients for Texas windstorm insurance, but keeping the money instead of forwarding it on to the insurance company. Murphy operated integrity insurance agency in League City. A Galveston judge sentenced him to four years in prison.
