Texas is a hugely diverse place, but most Lone Star State residents have one thing in common — a love for chili.
That’s certainly true for Jewish Texans who are holding a Kosher Chili Cook Off Sunday, March Second, at the Jewish Community Center, 5601 S. Braeswood Blvd from 11am to 3pm.
Thirty-two teams will compete for bragging rights, many of the representing Houston synagogues.
Organizers decided it should be a kosher event so that it would attractive to members of all branches of Judaism in Houston.
It’s a family friendly event, with live music, activities for children and lots of chili to taste — ranging from traditional versions to some with a bit of a Hebraic twist.
Admission is 10 dollars for adults, 6 dollars for kids, 25 dollars for a family of four.
Planners say it will happen rain or shine. They have a plan to to move it inside if the weather demands it.
