The Houston school board will meet today to discuss banning Native American mascots from its schools.
If the change is approved, the Lamar Washington Football Team, the Hamilton Indians, the Welch Warriors and the Westbury Rebels will all have to change their mascots. State Sen. Rodney Ellis supports the change, but more than a 1,000 people have already signed a petition to not allow it.
