M.D. Anderson is giving us the perfect opportunity to give back to a member of local law enforcement.

The hospital has announced it will have its blood mobile in Galveston next Friday, August 17, parked at the Galveston Police Department at 601 54th Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Friends and family of Jamaica Beach Police Chief Andy McLane are hoping at least 40 donors can contribute in preparation for an upcoming surgery the chief will undergo.

Chief McLane was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer for which he is being treated at M.D. Anderson.  Officials there have said his upcoming surgery is considered a “blood loss” type of operation.
