Arson investigators are looking over a church fire after the building burned Thursday evening. According to reports, the church building sustained heavy damage after a fire broke out at the River of God Church on McClellan Road at Sorters McClellan Road just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to the Houston Fire Department, responding firefighters found heavy flames shooting from the church’s roof. They were able to quickly extinguish the flames before they destroyed the entire building.

Although the fire caused damage to a secondary church building, the flames did not destroy the main sanctuary of the church.

Additional reports indicate that no one was in the church at the time; no injuries were reported. HFD arson investigators are investigating the cause of the fire and searching for clues in the rubble.
