The autopsy results in the death of a woman discovered at 3300 Redbud on Thursday afternoon may hold clues Houston police need.

The woman’s identity and cause of her death are under investigation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Officials describe her as a black female between the 30- and 40-years-old. Her body showed signed of decomposition when she was discovered.

According to HPD’s Homicide Division Sergeant R. Chandler and Senior Police Officer K. Carr, neighbors smelled an unusual odor from a trash pile in a roadside ditch. When they inspected the heap of trash, they found the woman at the bottom of the refuse pile and alerted police.
