Count this as round number two of recent deaths to shock the world this fall. Singer/songwriter and longtime collaborative force in the worlds of gospel and pop music Jessy Dixon has reportedly passed away today at the age of 73.
According to official details from his family and the Chicago Tribune, the cause of Dixon’s death is yet to be unveiled although his sister Miriam Dixon was the first to confirm his passing from his home in Chicago, IL.
With over 50 years of great music accredited to his name including songs written for and performed by legends Cher, Diana Ross and Natalie Cole, Dixon is best known for his vast contributions to the gospel music genre. Dixon was one of few gospel artists to cross racial lines and develop a strong following with his inspirational messages throughout the years.
Cited for his work on the Bill Gaither Gospel Hour, Dixon’s musical catalog includes three gold-selling albums and seven nominations just to name a few of his well-known accolades in the music industry.
