Summary:

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve lacked nothing, but when they disobeyed God, their abundant life came to an end. God’s plan for mankind has always been and continues to be—fruitfulness and multiplication. Sin (disobedience) blocks God’s blessing in our lives, which is why He does not want us to disobey Him or dishonor His Word.

A.The pure in heart shall receive the blessing (Psalm 24:4-5).

1.A pure heart in this context does not refer to a flawless heart, but to the heart of someone who will not give up on the things of God.

2.A person who develops holiness (being of one mind with God) will operate in the blessing of God.

3.God weighs people’s hearts, not their mechanical actions.

B. “The blessing of the Lord—it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it]” (Proverbs 10:22, AMP).

1.To be rich means there is nothing missing or broken in your life.

a.In other words, you are rich when you are whole or complete in every area of life.

b.The blessing is an anointing or an empowerment from God that causes us to be successful.

c.The anointing removes burdens and destroys yokes.

C.God released His blessing upon mankind in the beginning (Genesis 1:28).

1.His blessing was released by the positive Words He spoke.

a.He blessed by speaking “good” of all He created (Genesis 2:3, AMP).

b.The Word of God is the origin of the blessing. When we continue living according to the Word, the blessing will work in our lives.

c.Many times, we allow our negative emotions to push us away from the Word.

d.However, we can speak blessings and operate in our God-given dominion.

2.God’s blessing on mankind produced the following:

a.Fruitfulness (productivity) and multiplication of every kind.

b.Dominion and authority over all the earth and over every creeping thing on the earth.

D.Disobedience robbed mankind of the blessing (Genesis 3).

1.Disobedience to God’s written Word or spoken Word robs us of the blessing. Obedience produces the blessing.

a.Sin blocks the blessing because it carries with it a curse.

E.God released the blessing on Noah and his sons after the flood.

1.Noah was the authority figure of his household.

a.Noah’s son, Ham found him drunk and naked.

b.Ham told his brothers, Shem and Japheth about their father’s condition, which was dishonorable to Noah.

c.Shem and Japheth honored their father by covering his nakedness.

d.Noah cursed Ham, and he released the blessing on his other two sons (Genesis 9:19-27).

F.God released His blessing upon Abram (Genesis 12:1-3).

1.Abram was a descendant of Shem.

a.In blessing Abram, God declared that anyone who conferred blessings on him would be blessed, and anyone who conferred curses upon him would be cursed.

b.This particular statement helps us understand the power of our words. We are constantly releasing blessings or curses.

c.We can confess the Word of God to change our own lives.

2.Abram obeyed God, and as a result, he was blessed abundantly (Genesis 13:1-5).

a.Lot, because he was with Abram, also prospered.

b.By living the manifestation of the blessing, Abram showed us how to keep the blessing in operation.

c.As long as Abram (later renamed Abraham) obeyed God, He lived a blessed life.

3.Everything that is not whole in our lives, the blessing makes whole. It will fix circumstances that seem impossible to fix.

a.For example, Abram’s wife Sarai gave birth to a child in her old age.
