The Pittsburgh Steelers are showing their support for the United States military after some controversial tweets by running back Rashard Mendenhall on Monday. Mendenhall posted on his Twitter account that he wondered what kind of person celebrates death after Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces on Sunday. He added it’s amazing how people can hate a man they have never even heard speak. Mendenhall went on to say we’ll never know what really happened on 9-11, and he has a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style.

Steelers team president Art Rooney the Third released a statement today saying he hasn’t spoken with Mendenhall, so it’s hard to explain or comprehend what he meant by his Twitter comments. Rooney also said the entire Steelers organization is very proud of the job the military is doing and hopes bin Laden’s death leads to American troops coming home soon.
