It was supposed to be the year for somebody else. Yet the North Shore girls’ 4×100 meter relay foursome failed to receive the memo.

All four North Shore girls echoed that sentiment following the Lady Mustangs stunning victory in their specialty before a capacity crowd and against a star-studded field in the 60th annual Texas Southern Relays.

Eisenhower came into the race having posted the fifth fastest time in the nation earlier in the season.

“Our coach told us before the race that the talk going around the stadium was Eisenhower, Hightower or Fort Bend Marshall was going to win the race,” said junior Mona Landry, who ran the second leg for North Shore. “They doubted us and basically had thrown us under the bus. All that did was pump us up.”
