Next time you go to the grocery store and you need to buy some toothpaste, look on the side of the box you will find the following warning (required by the FDA): “WARNINGS: Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek PROFESSIONAL HELP or contact a POISON CONTROL center immediately.” All you want to do is clean your teeth but you could be poisoned in the process, does that make you wonder what’s in your toothpaste? Flouride is in your toothpaste and it is suppose to take care of tooth decay. I’ve been told fluoride is bad, that it’s poison, so I decided to define what exactly fluoride is. I obtained a dental definition of Fluoride: “Fluoride is a mineral that helps prevent tooth decay. It occurs naturally in all water sources. Studies show that fluoride reduces cavities in people of all ages and is effective and safe when used correctly. The correct use of fluoride has been said to have dramatically reduced tooth decay over the past few decades.” Fluoride is a mineral? If fluoride is a mineral technically doesn’t that make it a essential nutrient? I now decided to do a search on fluoride, I typed in fluoride truth. I was shocked (well not really, not even close) to find one result supporting fluoride (on the first page of the search results). Next I decided to visit the FDA website, I couldn’t find a statement regarding the FDA’s stance on fluoride. Next I looked into information dealing with the dangers of fluoride: These are just few examples. (These examples were not listed on the FDA website).

Disrupts synthesis of collagen

Hyperactivity and/or lethargy

Muscle disorders

Brain damage, and lowered IQ

Arthritis

Inactivates 62 enzymes

Inhibits formation of antibodies

Genetic damage and cell death

Increases tumor and cancer rate

Disrupts immune system

Damages sperm and increases infertility

The definition above states the fluoride helps to prevent tooth decay. The majority of the information I found stated that there is no proof showing fluoride decreasing tooth decay. I found more information stating there was no difference in tooth decay when using fluoride or fluoride increased tooth decay. I have a question for you all. How many essential nutrients do you know that are included as ingredients in rat poison? (besides fluoride I should say).

We all know about fluoride being in our toothpaste. How many of you know that fluoride is put in our water as well? Once again we are told it is used to help prevent tooth decay. (Once again)There are numerous scientists and health professionals stating that fluoride does not help with tooth decay. The question now is why is fluoride in our water? The answer I found basically said fluoride is waste that needs to be eliminated, no better place than our water supply: “Historically, this substance was quite expensive for the worlds’ premier chemical companies to dispose of – but in the 50’s and 60’s – Alcoa and the entire aluminum industry – with a vast overabundance of the toxic waste – SOMEHOW sold the FDA and our government on the insane (but highly profitable) idea of buying this poison at a 20,000% markup and then injecting it into our water supply as well as into the nation’s toothpastes and dental rinse. Yes that’s right folks, a 20,000% markup. Consider also that when sodium Fluoride is injected into our drinking water, its level is approximately 1 part-per-million (ppm), but since we only drink ½ of one percent of the total water supply, the hazardous chemical literally ‘goes down the drain’ and voila – the chemical industry has not only a free hazardous waste disposal system – but we have also PAID them handsomely in the process!!” ( A. True Ott)

I think the fluoride debate can go on and on. This is one topic that effects us all literally. I recommend you take the time to find out the truth regarding fluoride. View the video below for more information on fluoride.
