Actor to produce buddy comedy for Paramount Pictures.

*Eddie Murphy is set to produce and possibly star in “The Misadventures of Fluffy,” an R-rated road trip movie for Paramount Pictures.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film features talking animals — evoking memories of Murphy’s “Dr. Doolittle” franchise — and has an element of social comedy reminiscent of his 1983 hit “Trading Places.”

Murphy could potentially star in the film, but as it stands now, his only formal attachment is as a producer. Sam Pitman and Adam Cole-Kelly sold the pitch for the comedy and will write the script.

The duo came to prominence with a project called “The Diversification of Noah Miller,” a race-themed story about a man who tries to bring cultural enlightenment to his son by befriending people of another race. Tyler Perry is attached to produce and potentially star in that project.

Paramount is already in business with Murphy on “Beverly Hills Cop IV.”

Murphy’s last two live-action films, “Imagine That” and “Meet Dave,” struggled at the box office, but he is involved in a number of high-profile development projects, including a “Fantasy Island” reboot. He’ll also reprise his prominent voice role of Donkey in the upcoming “Shrek Forever After.”
