Q. What Is the Difference Between Depression and Bipolar Disorder?A. Depression and bipolar disorder are very related. If you have depression, you would feel very unhappy. You would be unable to enjoy things that you used to be able to enjoy. You would have a lack of enthusiasm, lack of motivation and very little energy. Your sleep would be disordered so that you might have insomnia, or just the opposite, you might sleep too much. You might have no appetite, or just the opposite you might have emotional eating.

When people have bipolar disorder, it’s a combination of depression and manic episodes. And if you had a manic episode, it would be just the opposite of depression, where you would feel excessively good, but so good that you end up doing things like spending all your money, and other things that you will later regret that might even land you in the hospital. But in either case, whether its bipolar disorder or depression, medications and therapy make them very treatable conditions.
