Summary:

Why is Christ the hope of the world? When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the act caused a separation between God and mankind. Without the shed blood of Jesus, reconciliation was not possible. All humans were destined to eternal damnation, but Jesus’ sacrifice brought harmony to a bad situation, and mended the relationship between God and mankind.

  1. The foundational problem of all mankind is sin. All problems that plagued the human race are the aftermath of sin.
    1. When Adam and Eve sinned, it created a spiritual imbalance.
      1. Someone had to pay for what was done because God is a God of righteousness and justice. Every sin must be judged.
    2. Sin separates us from God. He has a standard of holiness that He will never break (Ezekiel 18:20, Romans 6:23).
      1. Whenever we break God’s law, it is a spiritual affair.
    3. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of the merited punishment for sin (Hebrews 9:22, AMP).
  2. With all the ingenuity we have today, humans still cannot create blood (Leviticus 17:11).
    1. God created blood. Adam, the first man who ever lived, received his blood directly from God.
      1. Jesus also received His blood directly from God. His shed blood was a very costly sacrifice.
  3. A priest had to administer a sacrifice in order for it to be accepted by God. Anyone else was unacceptable (Hebrews 10:4-14).
    1. Jesus was not only the sacrifice for our sins, but He was also our high priest who administered it. His sacrifice took care of the rift between God and man once and for all.
      1. In the beginning, when Adam and Eve sinned, God shed the blood of an animal to cover Adam and Eve in more ways than one.
      2. By doing so, God instituted atonement, which means sin can be covered for a period of time, but not completely wiped out.
      3. When Jesus shed His blood, He wiped out our sins completely.
      4. However, we cannot prosper and sin simultaneously. But when we confess our sins, turn away from them, and humble ourselves before God, we obtain mercy (Isaiah 42:3, Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:5-9).
      5. When we sin or miss the mark, we have a decision to make. We can either continue in a sinful lifestyle that leads to ultimate destruction or turn from sin and do the Word.
      6. The power of the blood of Jesus is activated only when we are operating in the light of God’s Word.
  4. God says His people are destroyed or cut off because they lack knowledge (Hosea 4:6).
    1. Without knowledge of the blood of Jesus, we have no power. The enemy uses our ignorance to destroy us.
      1. Therefore, we must understand the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice.
      2. There is no sin that is greater than the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus.
  5. God showed John, the beloved, an awesome scene in Heaven. There was a book that was completely sealed inside and out, held in the hands of the one sitting upon the throne—the most High God (Revelation 5:3-7).
    1. The book was filled with detailed plans for redemption of all mankind, and unless it was opened, there was no hope for the human race.
      1. John saw that no man or angel was found worthy to open and read the book.
      2. However, the Lamb of God, our champion, prevailed on Earth so He could open the book. He overcame every temptation, without sin.
    2. Jesus declared, “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else” (Isaiah 45:22).
