Now more than ever is the time to allow the Word of God to become the final authority in our lives. Societal norms and values have declined to the point where everything that goes against God’s Word is accepted, and the principles of the Bible are being rejected. As Christians, our success is based on whether or not we choose to walk in the Spirit (the Word of God) or to conform to the image of this world’s system, which leads to death and destruction. Just because something is accepted by a majority and is “politically correct” does not make it right. The only proper standard of what is acceptable is the Bible; and it is time to start taking it seriously.

Satan is striving feverishly to infiltrate the minds and hearts of people of all ages by suggestively packaging sin—presenting it in such a way as to make it seem okay. Sexual immorality, for example, is being fed to the public through news broadcasts, television sitcoms, and music videos. If you pay attention long enough, these images may begin to seem acceptable and even appealing to you. Sadly, those who speak out against such imagery and messages are labeled “intolerant” and “politically incorrect.”

Just because something is accepted does not make it acceptable in God’s eyes. For example, all forms of sexual activity outside the covenant of marriage are wrong (Hebrews 13:4; Galatians 5:19). Many of the things the world accepts are actually vile in God’s sight (Romans 1:18-32). Hebrews 4:12 says the Word judges, exposes, and analyzes all things. Therefore, as believers, we should let the Word be our judge of what is right and wrong. If the Bible says something is incorrect, then it is incorrect—period!

Holiness is not wearing a long skirt and no makeup, but it is “being of one mind with God.” Hebrews 12:14 instructs Believers to pursue peace and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. Adopting the attitudes of the world’s system will inevitably set you against God and position you to miss the blessings He has for you.

I want to encourage you to not allow the desire to “fit in” to blind you to the truth. Satan wants to dupe you into believing that his way of thinking and doing is the way to go; however, fitting in with his crowd will cost you (Proverbs 26:2; Deuteronomy 28:15-68; Romans 6:23). As a Christian, you should strive to renew your mind to the truth of God’s Word (Romans 12:1, 2) so that you can conform to His image and be able to discern truth from error, no matter how “politically correct” it seems to be.
