*D’Angela Steed, Co-Executive Producer of BET’s “Sunday Best” has created a unique platform for singers to become stars.
The basic format is no different than American Idol: 3 judges, thousands of contenders with varying degrees of talent, and only one winning slot.
So what separates Sundays Best from any other singing competition?
“We have active recording artists judging you who will go from your judge to your peer in a matter of months,” Steed answers. “You can literally be judged by Donnie and Mary Mary today and then come “Celebration of Gospel” (another BET special program) be singing with them.”
A Christian, Steed says the show is a ministry. She took the time to school New Orleans contestants on the delicate balance of ministry and competitive entertainment and says there is a special quality auditioners must possess: “the anointing.”
