This is a huge year for South Africa as they prepare for the world cup in June, but today may even be a bigger occasion than the world cup for them. Today marks the 20 year anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s release from prison. On Feb. 11th 1990 after 27 yrears Mandela, walked free from prison after being convicted on charges of sabotage, as well as other crimes committed while leading a movement against apartheid.
In 1993 he was given the Nobel Peace Prize.
