LATEST UPDATE    Countless Haitians are spending another night in darkness and despair as bodies begin to pile up in the streets following Tuesday’s devastating magnitude 7.0 earthquake.  Much of their capital city, Port-au-Prince lies in ruins and relief efforts are just barely getting underway.  Nothing yet in the way of an official death toll, but the predictions alone are bad enough.  Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive said on Wednesday that he feared as many as 100-thousand lives may have been lost.  Meanwhile, the U.S. and a host of other nations are rushing search and rescue teams along with other desperately needed aid to earthquake-ravaged Haiti.  President Obama has called on Americans to donate generously to aid groups, and directed potential donors to the White House website for information.
