I cannot believe that you are changing to an HD station. The FCC has not advised that it will do away with ananlog radio stations. What about the people who do not have access or cannot afford to access the station? When this staton first appeared, I thought it was a gosepl station. You play gospel music but are just a business as any other corporation in capitalist America. How dare Kathy Highes air spots delacring that this is a station for the people. No this is for her gain. I know of many elderly patients in nursing homes that rely on this station because they are not even able to go to church as they once did. What are they to do? Working people will not have access from their places of business with just a regular radio if their bosses will not allow or provide access. Did anyone ever think about this? Of course not, because they have no bearing on your fiscal year. I will not be tuning in to this station in protes and will advise others not to also. I will advise churches to circulate a petition or advise their memebers to flood the station with letters via email & mail. As Christians we are to bein this world, but not of this world. We now know which side of the fence this station is on.

Out of all the stations in Houston,TX there are only 4 stations that cater to African Americans. Praise 92.1, 102.1Jamz , 97.9the box, 90.9 KTSU. Out of all of them only Praise 92.1 plays gospel music 24/7. Now out of all the other stations why did they have to choose the ONLY gospel station to get rid off. Has this world turned so evil that they don’t even want us to have christian flow through the radio? I am beyond hurt by this decision, and I know if it wasn’t for money this would never have happened. This world is ending sooner than later. We have to read our bibles and continue to believe.

Not at all pleased by the decision that Praise 92.1 will no longer be broadcasted over a “regular” radio station. It plays a major contribution in getting me through the day work. And with the switch to HD & me not receiving any cell phone service at my desk for the app, what is a man to do. So frustrated! “Get off my phone! I got ta go!” & Jesus baby, Coco Brother! will get all my airtime until the shut off date.

I am very disappointed in Radio One’s decision to replace Praise 92.1 FM on analog radio with an all news format station in Houston. What Radio One does not understand is that Praise is more than a radio station – it’s a ministry. It saddens me to think that so many of the people who call (and those that don’t) to say they have been blessed or requesting prayer will no longer have the constant access to gospel 24/7 in their homes, cars and workplaces. A dollar amount can never be placed on salvation, healing, deliverance, strength, and encouragement. I pray that God will provide the resources and open the doors of opportunity for someone else to offer 24/7 gospel radio on FM analog radio again in Houston real soon.

Everytime I hear the announcement about this my blood starts to boil. I can’t believe that Radio One would remove this much loved and needed resource from the community. I listen to this station in my car and unless Radio One is about to upgrade my radio in my car, I won’t be able to listen to it… I hope that they would reconsider.

Sorry but Praise 92.1 is NOT a ministry. It is a for profit radio station. While I can empathise with listeners who are losing a “friend” I must say that if you can, if there is any way possible, you must try and get an hdradio. KLOL fans were not given the choice when their station went Tejano. HD radio sounds better than regular radio- a lot better. Imagine the gospel voices even more clear and crisp than before! Christmas is coming up- I know a lot of praise listeners are on fixed income so I would suggest you put an hd radio on your Christmas list. You will not regret it. As for the News station- this could be very big for Radio One. They are largely viewed as a company that can only attract an “urban ” Audience. If this thing works then it will be a true shining example of a minority owned company that can run with the “Big Dogs.”

Yes, The only show you will hear will be the morning show. It’s just music the rest of the day and night. Uggh! And the person named “J”, yes we know it is a for “profit” radio station but it still had “Ministry”. Yolanda ministers with the points of power, Lonnie ministered with his games and topics, Praise man ministered with his compassion, drive mix and prayer line, CoCo brother ministered to marriages, relationships, compassion and conferences. The weekend shows ministered as well from the youth with DJ Revelation, the personal touch of memphis and the love & warmth of Nzinga. So to say that a for “profit” station can’t minister, is not accurate. We understand business, we are just saying this station will be missed on the “regular” fm dial with “all” of the shows. God is gonna raise another one up real soon. Believe Dat!

Also yes Radio One is a minority owned station and has done a lot of good in our community for which we are proud. But, this news station will Not valid date its existence to run with the “Big Dogs” as you put it. IT Already does that! This will only enhance it’s diversity, which is a good thing in this global society. Minority companies have always had the ability to compete with the “Big Dogs”, many have never had the opportunities or the support to venture out of their know sphere. There are many more that are already doing it such as Thompson Hospitality, the nations 9th largest food service corp; Comtek, a leading tech company providing network intergration; Invizion corp, which is a leading consulting firm and many more. Although, I believe you meant no harm in your comment, just do your research first!

I really cannot believe you are taking off the Lonnie Hunter, and all the rest of the radio host.
I listen to this radio station everyday at work and home. I work a stressful job and the Lonnie Hunter show kept me laughing while enjoying christian music. I do not listen to the music of the world anymore, so what do us christian people do now? But, money is the root to all evil. Praise92.1 was a wonderful radio station for the houston market. May God bless you Lonnie and the rest of the hosts.

Our seniors and low income people do not have the money to buy all the things. I will find another station, but to the owner of this station how do you sleep at night knowing that this station means a lot to the people of God. Yes, everyone will find other christian stations, but just think about how many people got saved though this station.

    Thanks,

I’m pissed off. I heard the announcement but it didn’t registered until I didn’t hear Cori the other night. I thought something had happed to him. Then as I was working at home waiting for the Lonnie Hunter show he never showed up. Why would we want to listen to news all day? When I heard the announment about a 24/7 news station it pissed me off. Anyway I’m over it now will replace my day with something else like the begging-lying-twisted bible teaching so called TBN ministers. At least they are still there but you better read your bible with them or you’re be tricked out of all your money.

Very heartbroken fan! I can’t believe my favorite station is going off air. Just when I need to listen to you most, you’re not there. We have to have you back on air. We don’t need a news station, we need PRAISES and inspirations. What can we do to get you back on air?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_LBLM6VYBRH3O7DOSNKFIIFZH4E Brandi Jenkins

Very disappointed. Bad decision. I can’t tell you how even through the jokes of Marcus in the morning – God gave him wisdom that helped me with real life situations. Yolanda, AV, Lonnie – everyone was a blessing. I don’t have a smart phone etc, and I can’t listen on my computer while I’m taking my kid to school, going to bible study or running errands. 92.1 on the ANALOG radio turned my car into a sanctuary – a place of worship and wisdom. I am saddened, but what can I do. The choice is made. Thanks to everyone I mentioned prior and to everyone who worked behind the scenes too for your ministry. But to WHOEVER made this DUMB decision – as a good christian I wish you well.

Truly a sad moment for gospel music in Houston TX…. I cannot believe 92.1 Praise went off the air. I am an unemployed student, right now I cannot afford XM radio. In today’s world, we need Jesus and inspiration, which this radio station gave us, both daily. I was a faithful listener from the beginning with Brother Larry then with Yolanda Adams Morning Show. My heart saddened now that I cannot praise, laugh, and learn on my way to class and back. Rochelle

  • Helena Washington

This is truly sad that 92.1 is gone. The fact that you could praise in your car, was wonderful, the kids enjoyed the music and helped spark Christian dialogue with them, the fun & laughs, serious topics, Ada Edwards on Saturday mornings with community topics…the entire station was very important to this community. It truly saddens me that that this has happened. As others have posted, what are the elderly, lower income, supposed to do? 92.1 was a community resource that will be missed. I understand business, but I wish that the people that respected and benefited from this station were strongly considered.

Why was this Inspirational station taken off the air? This station would start my day and get me through Houston traffic. Yolanda Adams “Points of Power” gave me strength and encouragement in an insane world…This is truly a sad day…Hopefully enough voices would be heard to bring the station back so we can listen to it without having to buy a certain type of radio.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1193748191 Melanie Garrett Allen

I am STILL asking myself why and HOW can anyone justify why Praise 92.1 was taken off the air? On more than one occasion, listening to my Gospel station was the highlight of my stressful days. The right song would always tend to play at the right time to minister to my situation. I am a home health therapist and I spend the majority of my day driving around Houston in my vehicle. I don’t have HD radio and listening online while driving is not an option. Removing the only gospel station is just an indicator of how sick this world is….everyone is trying to take GOD, the creator of EVERYTHING out of everything. Praise 92.1 was the only “church” that alot of listeners got and to take that away is just SAD.

  • hellen herrera

It was shocking I turned the radio and Praise was gone without me knowing what was going on. This radio was an oasis making thru Houston trafic and after a hard day at work from home. It is so sad how the devil wants to take away everything that takes us closer to GOD.

  • Anonymous

Praise 92.1 was truely a one of a kind station. It was more than just music, it was ministry, like no other station could offer, not KSBJ, Not KTSU, Not 1360, like no other. From the mornings with Yolanda, To Lonnie, To Praiseman, To CoCobrother, even the slow gospel at night. Then the holy hip hop on weekends with Revelation, my kids loved it! I understand it was a business decision, and contrary to many posts, it was not the devil. We have to support our gospel stations! There were many concerts with good artists that this station promoted that were not full. When a secular station promotes a concert with good artists it is full! We really didn’t support this station to the fullest. Yes, we listened, but to make a for profit station really stay afloat, we have to support every evernt! Non profit stations like KSBJ and KTSU, are slightly different in that they have to raise operation expenses from listeners, which sometime involve begging like on TBN, with telethons in such. This was a for profit station, meaning it’s money came from advertisers. When advertisers pay for adds on a station, it makes money to cover operation expenses. If we don’t support the adverisers, they stop buying ads, the station looses money. It’s goes off the air! When God raises up the next one, and He will, Let’s support it with all that we have. Because now we know what it feels like to have 24hr “regular” fm gospel, and it is just not the same without it! Going back to old school AM, no offense to 1360, is just not an option for me. I am playing cd’s, smartphone apps, and internet till another one comes back. It won’t be long! I speak it!

My wife and I are experiencing a wide range of emotions from hurt to disappointment. We loved the fact that we could listen to gospel every day, all day. With the changes that are being made, the station is sending the message that we have to pay to listen to gospel. Jesus paid it all! Salvation is free. We cannot believe that yesterday morning, we were listening to gospel and by the afternoon, we were being told that the station is changing to an all news station. We already have access to news so we don’t need a 24 hour news station, we need a forum where Christians can be inspired, encouraged, and motivated. One of the reasons I was happy to move to Houston was the fact that the city had a Christian radio station that was on all the time. What does the Christian community need to do to get our Gospel station back. Rev

  • Anonymous

I’m absolutely upset about this change. I listen to 92.1 everyday on my commute and even on the weekends. If I wanted to listen to news I would change it to a news station. There’s enough negative news outlets out there. I guess corporate doesn’t care about the impact of a positive, 24hr Christian music station.

Not everyone has access to an HD2 signal and that includes many of the people who were inspired by Praise 92.1. I was told about a station that plays gospel music on Sundays. However, listeners of Praise appreciated a station that was available 24 hours, every day of the week. This station attracted listeners of every faith; not just those who worship on Sundays.

It’s truly sad to lose such an intergral part of my daily worship and routine.

I am writing this comment on behalf of myself and my wife who have grown through the ministry of PRAISE 92.1 We talk about ways of reaching people and you just took off one of the ways of reaching those who don’t have access to the internet. I think its so disappointing that you guys chose to take off the good news instead of one of the secular stations, and if you had to make a decision why couldn’t you move to a another station or channel? Everyone I have spoken to who have internet have said they will not support it and will pray that someone see the whole picture of reaching the masses and not just making money. Ministry is about reaching people and not making money. Lets pray that some one else bring another gospel station to the radio so we can support it and continue to praise God through the gospel waves of radio.

Listening to Praise 92.1 made my driving in Houston almost bearable, now I have to search through CD’s again to find my inspiration while driving…It’s not fair that the fans did not have a choice in this decision. Everyone needs to have an uplift every now and then and shouldn’t have to search far for it….bad decision……

For the last couple days I’ve been wondering what’s going on . . .I kept trying to find the station and kept getting a lot of annoying construction noise about this new change. In which, I don’t remember anyone letting the listeners in that you all were going to do this. I thought is was tacky and very disappointing. No one saw it coming. . . All the people we enjoy while driving the car from Yolanda, to Coco Brother, to Praise Man, etc. Having the station availabe to us while DRIVING around town was the best FORMAT to target believers and unbelievers alike. I think whoever made this drastic change wasn’t to wise. . . You had our attention and now its dimished instantly with this so-called “new format”. The convenience is no longer there to listen. It was a simple touch of the and we were able to listen immediately to encouraging music, prayer, good advertising, funny uplifting shows, etc. . . I don’t what someone was thinking . . . Just disappointed. . . I guess we’ll see you around . . . Blessing to the staff!!!!

It breaks my heart that the BEST radio station on earth is no longer with us, Praise 92.1! There are people who do not have access to Mobil App and what about the older generation who doesn’t have a clue what that is! I have a radio in my livingroom area as well as in my bedroom and I go to sleep and wake up with Praise 92.1 EVERYDAY!! There has been times when the Holy Spirit allow a certain song to come on at a certain time that just grasp my heart, body and soul and an instant connect to strength, hope and prosperity in the Lord took over my day and my night! We need this radio station for each song, speaker and encourging word was a life-line to so many including me! What can I do to help get Praise 92.1 back on the radio???? Someone please…..we have to fix this!! I am claiming our station back on the radio in the MIGHTY NAME OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!!! AMEN!

I am really upset about 92.1 moving to digital. There are a lot of us out here that do not have and do not believe in paying to listen to the radio! My phone is not that smart at the time. Some of my friends are in the same boat. We feel betrayed. I suppose I will just listen to my cds to get my praise fix on my long commute to and from work. It’s just not the same. : (

  • Anonymous

HD or digital radio is free, you just have to have an HD radio to pick up the signal. The only thing you have to pay for is the new radio which they sell at Best Buy, Frys, Walmart, ect. But I am still sadden that it had to move, although I understand business it is still tough. I believe God will raise up another station on regular radio, since some people don’t have money to buy a new radio. But when he does, let’s support it people of God! I understand this change, eventhough I don’t like it, it’s a business. There’s payroll, overhead and operating expenses, if we don’t support the station by going to the advertised concerts and businesses, stations don’t make money so they switch to something that will.

Salvation is Free, but it costs money to broadcast gospel on radio, tv or any form of media. TBN has telethons to raise money for operation expenses. This station did not have telethons so it raised money by selling advertisements. Let’s not take the next station for granted.

I am very disappointed in RADIO ONE for allowing such things to happen.
so out of curiosity if Radio One owns and operate 53 broadcast stations located in 15 urban markets in the United States, why was it so impossible for them to find where to put 92.1.
I find this very hard to believe, if u are for the community then u stand up to support the community not your pockets. so much going on in this world right now and sometimes all some of us have is the radio station, things are so tight you cant afford to purchase this artist CD’s or things gets so rough all u can do is turn on your 92.1 and laugh. I truly think this is the most selfish thing to do. May God help you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very disappointed that Radio One would single out Houston in moving Praise 92.1 to HD thus leaving out the majority of its listening population for a select few. With economy in its current state and the fact that not everyone has nor can afford to upgrade the HD format is saddening. This is the only radio station I listen to especially while in the car, and now my commute will never be the same. Although I do listen online while at work it is heartbreaking that I will not be able to listen to many of the on air personalities I have come to love as being apart of my day, Lonnie Hunter, Praise Man, Coco Brother, just to name a few. I just can not believe that Radio One would shut so many members out by switching without even giving a second thought as to so many whose lives have been touched on a daily basis by Praise 92.1 and not provide a “free” option for so many who want to listen on a daily basis. Analog is free with no upgrade nor purchase required where as HD and Apps require a purchase of some sort. This change needs to be reversed. What happened to “reality” radio that was advertized when Cathy Hughes was trying to get us to take her side on various issues. Where is she now when the loyal listeners of Praise 92.1 have been shut out in the cold???

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_Z7FBTGFIKUS4672ET4YUVZNMLQ Ashanti

i am so happy that others feel the same way I do about the removal of this necessary radio station. I am a single mother, who is also a student, paying for extras really is not in the budget right now. But before I was able to listen and get revitalized, I still use some of the testamonies from Praiseman’s show as motivation. I am disgusted that of all the dead air in radio today, OUR station was choosen for some “news without views” ridiculousness (i mean seriously, how many secular channels are there in Houston? Yet someone believed it would be great to take away the one station that broadcast about the TRUE and LIVING GOD??). There were plenty of times when I had to remove myself from the clinical setting, run to my car, turn on the radio, and let the tears flow as I praised God just to get back on the right track. Without seeing anyone behind the mic, phone calls in, or even these post….I understand that we are a family. We prayed for one another, believed and hoped for one another… so way to go Radio One…it just doesn’t seem like this was worth it…we stand in the gap for one another… now there is a gap of needed praise music

Just not understanding, why can’t 92.1 be analog & HD ??? 92.1, & the crew Yolanda Adams Morning, CoCo brother, Prayer night of Tues. Do they not see that how this will affect the people of Houston of all ages. Are we letting politics get involved here. What can we do to bring back 92.1 home. Everyone can’t afford the extra HD receiver/adapter.. Houston still have other radio stations that are analog, so why did they have to go for 92.1 first? Why couldn’t they have added a new station on the FM side and place the 24/7 News there. I don’t want to listen to the news. that’s what channel 2, 11, 13,26, & 39 are for the news starts @ 4:00 am and ends 10:30pm so if I wanted to watch or listen to it I can wait til I get home. We want 92.1 back home !!!!! You all have no clue of how many people are tuned in to the Yolanda Adams Morning show, Lonnie Hunter and Coco Brother ( esp. prayer night on Tues. nights) are y’all serious about this news station replacing the gospel station. My car was so silent this morning I dare not listen to 102.1 they gossip and talk to much 90.9 (static) even on Sundays. What can we do to get the station back? If most of the other stations on FM are playing clearly, why can’t 92.1 get the same kind of service?

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/Carmel-2-Die-4/ Carmel-2-Die-4

    Juanita Dee

I totally agree with you. They just don’t know and understand the multitude of people of all ages this station reaches & touches on a daily basis. They didn’t consider about the elderly @ all with this one (People don’t have the funds to purchase this HD receiver/adapter. Other will not be able to listen to it @ work because they are not allowed on the internet. So your android phone/battery will be drained or U will be buying another battery sooner than later.. I am not understanding why the Radio station didn’t create a new station and then add the CNN News to the new station and left 92.1 where it was. I ask that everyone start praying that they bring 92.1 bring to it’s home. The 92.1 crew from Morning til night blesses me on a daily basis, and I am sure that people will agree with me. So someone pls. tell me how can we start a petition and who do we have to send this too.

I think that this is a disgrace. This station ministered not only to me, but a lot of people. Too many for it to go off the air. I understand changes, but this was not right or fair. Radio One was not right in this decision. Sad, how the world continue to quiet God. They could have removed 102.1, or any other station. I think that they will loose a lot of listeners such as me.

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/UPAGE/ UPAGE

J, you are absolutely correct – Praise 92.1 was a for profit radio station. I am not ignorant of that fact. Apparently, they don’t intend to make any money, as far as gospel is concerned, with this change. While Radio One considered only offering another music genre format in Houston 5 years ago, God had something else in mind. He has a mysterious way of doing that. His bottom line is about saving and strengthening souls. His purpose was achieved. The decision makers at Radio One, both corporate and regional, did not engage themselves with local interests familiar with the genre and the community in the Houston area. As I inferred in my previous comments, 24/7 gospel FM will be back with an owner(s) who knows gospel music and how to make it work in the Houston area – financially and spiritually. I wish Radio One well with all their endeavors. I am grateful that friends on the Praise staff are being placed with the other Radio One formats in town. I still disagree with moving the gospel format, but if God allowed that season with Radio One to be over, so be it. But, there is a better season coming in the Kingdom for Houston!

  • Tammy Long

I can not BELIEVE that Radio One (Kathy Hughes) who says that she has her pulse on the heart of the african american community would remove one of the most successful radio markets for Houston. When 92.1 came on the radio, I was was listener. Even before the Yolanda Adams show even. We have been blessed to have Yolanda, Marcus,AV, Bro Larry, CoCo Brother, Lonnie and Praise Man,Inzinga and Memphis among others. WOW. My heart is not only saddened but my car is empty. I am not sure if this was due to lack of advertising or what…but I pray that you come back. I do have a IPOD,IPAD and Blackberry and I have access to mobile devices. However it is not the same. There are people in our community that will not be able to listen to get to you. This station has saved lives and saved souls. I am hoping that God moves this mountain. God Bless.

This is truly the work of the devil. The devil is a liar. I rebuke it in the name of Jesus. If we all come together as one and voice our opinion and be heard WE can get our radio station BACK. I for one can not aford to pay to listen to the radio. There were so many other stations that could have been given this great opportunity to go HD in stead of OUR station, especially the stations that play the rap music. I know it’s a form of art, but it gives no positive message to our youth.
WE WANT OUR STATION BACK!!!! My mother is 68 and my father is 73, when they arrived at church this past Sunday morning my mother and father couldn’t understand why they couldn’t listen to Praise 92.1 anymore. They thought they had really bad interference until I explained to my mother there is no more Praise 92.1. I told her they would need to either keep a computer on all day to listen to Praise 92.1 or pay to listen by purchasing HD. Of course that lead to a whole other conversation she was completely lost. This is truly a loss.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!! REALLY IF I WANTED TO LISTENT TO RAP AND R&B I HAVE MANY STATION TO CHOOSE FROM. BUT I AM ONE OF MANY THAT LIKE TO LISTENT TO GOOD CHRISTIAN RADIO. GOOD ADVICE AND PARYER… I LISTEN TO 92.1 EVERY WHERE I GO. I EVEN HAVE MY CHILDREN LISTENING TO IT. NOW WHAT DO I TELL THEM. IM A SINGLE MOTHER AND I CAN USE ALL THE HELP I CAN GET TO MINISTER TO MY CHILDREN WHEN I AM NOT AROUND. IF I WANTED THE LATEST RAP ARTIST TO DO IT FOR ME I WOULD LISTEN TO 97.9, DONT GET ME WRONG IF THAT IS YOUR LIKING THAN RUN WITH IT. BUT FOR ME 92.1 GOT ME THOURGH ALOT OF HARD TIME AND IT WAS NICE TO HERE OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE AND HAD. THE ONE STATION THAT WAS REAL WITH REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL PROBLEM, WHO KNEW THAT IF THEY CALL AND ASKED FOR PRAYER THEY WOULD GET IT. I WISH THE OWNERS WELL AND I HOPE THAT THEY ARE READING ALL THE DISAPPOINTED POST ABOUT THE MOVE, AND BE TOUCHED ENOUGH THROUGH GOD TO BRING IT BACK TO ALL OF THEIR FAITHFULL FOLLOWERS.

Where can the faithful listener of Praise 92.1 voice our opionion of this move. There are elderly people, unemployed, underemployed and just faithful listener who enjoyed having a gospel station in Houston, who don’t have the money to purchase a hd radio or receiver that this really isn’t fair to. We don’t have another gospel station to listen to expcept 89.3 which is ok but not the music we want to hear. Most of us have been with the station since it came to Houston we feel betrayed. I can’t go out and buy another radio I just bought the one I have two months ago. please help us to continue to listen to 92.1 fm. Linda of Humble

As a Pastor here in the Houston area, I say removing Praise 92.1 from the Houston Airways was a mistake. God is not pleased with what you have done. The object is to take the word to even the lest of these. There are those who can not afford the upgrade required to listen. We support Kathy Hughes in her fight for Radio one to stay on the air, now Radio one give us Praise 92.1 back. We support your cruses every year, NOW SUPPORT US WITH PRAISE 92.1. Many souls were saved and broken lives healed through this radio station and the talented people who run it, again I say GIVE IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although I am sad as well there is a free option available. If you currently have a blackberry, iPhone, or Android phone you can download the free app from the market. All you have to do is search KROI in your market.

msmaintain, I have a Blackberry with the Praise app. However, while in the car, my radio doesn’t have the HD capability. That was the station locked in on my car radio. So now I listen to nothing or the other Christian station KCBU or KSBJ (not sure if the call letters are right). And my CD player doesn’t work. I’m sure there are many people out there that have the same issue. No HD or Apps.

why did the station drop like that, knowing everyone doesnt have HD or a smartphone? Who’s decision was it? Did anybody think about what would happen to the everyday listeners?

What happened with Praise 92.1 moving to a new station? All your listeners do not have computers or this new technology. I work in the Healthcare environment and everyone were disappointed when we found out that Praise 92.1 was moving to HD. Are they really considering the audience, especially the elders that calls in on a regular basis. I want to hear the Yolanda Adams Show on the radio in the car with Bishop Secular, Lonnie Hunter, Praise Man, Coco Brother, just to name a few. I just can not believe that Radio One would shut so many members out by switching without even giving a second thought as to so many whose lives have been touched on a daily basis by Praise 92.1 in the morning and in the evening. PLEASE WORK ON SOMETHING! GET 92.1 BACK ON THE RADIO. I DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEW STATION AT ALL BECAUSE WHO WANTS TO HEAR DEPRESSING NEWS WHEN WE COULD HEAR SOMETHING SPIRITUAL AND UPLIFTING. I WILL BE PRAYING THAT GOD WILL WORK THIS OUT. FROM MS. LO LO WHO IS VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible move to take 92.1 off of analog. I can’t tell you how many moments of deliverance, enlightenment and just plain ole rescue from the enemy 92.1 has helped me to experience, all while living my busy life, commuting from here to there. Also, I have 2 very impressionable young children and it brought me to tears how they began to sing along with the gospel music that 92.1 playED. Although I listened to all stations when they were out of the car, 92.1 was OUR station. We would fellowship on the way to everywhere. I’m very sad that it’s gone. Yes, I can afford hd (on a good day bc I’m self-employed) and will now get hd soon so we can have our morning worship back, I’m very sad bc I know that not everyone can just do that. A VERY BIG LOSS!! PLEASE CHANGE THIS!! There are MANY, MANY OTHER SOURCES OF NEWS OUT THERE, that I access all throughout the day, but my time with 92.1 was special and sacred. I’m sure that the ministry of 92.1 touched, saved and delivered sooooo many souls bc Houston is a big area, but I KNOW that you touched me and helped me to have a better attitude as I went along my stressful day. Nonetheless, I serve a risen Savior and know that He will work it All out – for me, my children and His other children in the Houston area. Dr. Lesajean M. Jennings

  • Felicia Grace

Like many others I am sad that Praise 92.1 had to be replaced by a news station. Aren’t there plenty of news stations on AM radio. I hardly listen to the radio now. Praise 92.1 kept me going.

Maybe if enough people complain they will bring it back.

  • Alex Thomas

What needs to be done to bring 92.1 back to the air. I know the effect it had on my day and in my life and to not have that ease of turning on your car and knowing that your favorite radio station is there bothers me big time, so as a fan and a listener, I need to know what we can do, do we need to start a petition or do a fundraiser? Just need and want to know, thank you.

  • Anonymous

The best way to deal with the issue is not listen to the new program. If the loose listeners and money then maybe the will see. Companies look at $$$$ signs…. We have to show them numbers what a mistake this is… We have the power…. Stop listening to all of radio one and boycott.

I’m very upset that this station is no longer on the radio! The very last thing I listen to before I step one foot out of my car is the Points of Power for my morning word. And the show lifts my spirits to deal with another day. Please get back on the radio. Thank you!

Why is no one listening to the faithful listeners of Praise 92.1??!!! This is RIDICULOUS!!!!!! No one asked us if we would prefer to listen to this station on HD! There was nothing wrong with the frequency that we were receiving. I am totally lost now that Praise 92.1 has been snatched away!!!! Alot of people (especially elderly) can’t afford to buy HD adapters for every radio they own! And those of us who do have phones that will add the app, it’s a BIG inconvenience to have the battery being drained. I so miss the dj’s entertainment and the inspiration they gave!!!! I work for the devil and he has once again gained another victory. Praise 92.1 gave me a constant balance that I needed EVERYDAY!!!! Please understand where we are coming from and give us back the station we long hopelessly for!!!!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_DXO3TYN3CD2SJQYM4JVA747VJY NikitaH

This does nothing on my phone but bring up the 92.1 news station. But who wants to have their battery drained by having to listen to a station that was once very accessible?!

Praise, you guys left at the worst time. I needed this station. And its brought me through so much. And I know I am not the only person. Its because of this station that I am able to find the strength I need to make it through the things I been through. I go to church every Sunday and I try to get there Wednesdays, but sometimes I need to hear the music through out the week or the ministry of Coco Brother and Yolanda to keep me uplifted. I cannot afford a HD radio and my phone is a smartphone so I cant get it on there and besides that, I love to blast it through my house. Praise please come back to our radio. I really, really need this in my life. You have no idea how much hope and help you have brought to your listeners. I can say so much has changed in my life since being faithful to your station. My testimony is a great on eand I owe ALOT of it to the music and ministry of Praise. Please someone rethink this. The effect is touching so many lives. PLEASE.

I listened to 92.1 that morning, and then when I got off of work it was gone. I don’t recall anyone making mention of any changes while listening in my car for the weeks and days leading up to the move. Disappointment is an understatement. I listened to this station when ever I was in the car riding to and fro. I don’t understand why we don’t deserve anything of our own. A music sound that I can relate to. Making it hd and a downloadable app puts it out of reach, I am sure for a very large portion of the listing audience. Will I do either, I doubt it. I will have to go back to listening to my cd’s or finding some kind of alternative christian radio station. I have looked and really not much to choose from. I wish you all the best of luck. I hope that you all will be blessed in all of your endeavors. Though I know this opened many doors for you all.

Salvation is not about “running with the Big Dogs,” this is another attempt of the enemy doing everything he can to keep the masses in the dark. There is nothing wrong with making a profit – but not at the expense of saving lost souls. This is not about the temporary. It’s about the eternity, and money cannot buy that.

my daughter said “mom can you turn it to praise 92, i want to listen to It’s the God in me” I had to tell her that we would have to go and buy the CD. I have started listening to KHCB 105.7 so that i can get my spiritual “fix” Although they don’t have misic like “Restored” “its the God in me” but as least i can listen to Tony Evans preach, I can listen to Charles stanley……..Just sad, too sad for words because i thought something was wrong with my car radio!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What can we do to get our Inspiration station back?? It was exactly that, INSPIRATION, everyday is just that much more difficult without easily accessing the 24/7 word of God and motivation from his disciples through music. That really is not fair to all of us who are really struggling on a daily basis and now if we don’t have the ability to access the app. or buy CDs or download on Itunes…daily inspiration and motivation in the form of music is gone. Our only choice is to be engulfed with the worldly temptations through the air waves or ride in silence. I don’t think you all truly understand the severe blow that has been dealt not that Praise 92.1 is gone. No more Praiseman, Lonnie, Yolanda or Coco…that was my church. That was my uplifting moment. Loyal listeners were seriously spit on. Disappointment and sadness. *sigh*What can we do to get our Inspiration station back??!!

I feel betrayed by Praise 92.1. You all introduced us to this wonderful station and suddenly it’s gone. I, like many others, cannot afford an HD radio, I am not able to listen to the station at work, and I do not own an android or blackberry phone. Also, there are many seniors who also enjoyed the station and do not have the capability to listen to the other formats.

It is a shame that Cathy Hughes has so little respect for her listening audience.

Dear Mrs. Cathy Hughes I thought that Praise 92.1 in Houston was the No. 1 Radio One station in the country considering how the Yolanda Adams Morning Show was stacking up in the ratings. Because you have utterly disrespected the listening audience of Houston, Tx., I will not be going on your OneLove Gospel Cruise in 2012. Since you have boycotted us, maybe we should return the favor by boycotting everything that you sponsor…. I am just one voice but that was what you stand for, One Voice for One People…..OneLove seems like OneHate here in Houston.

    Hello To All

I am still trying to find out if there is a petition that we can fill out to get 92.1 back on the analog station, If so, if someone could please post it on the comment website here. I can not began to say how in the mornings inside my vehicle it’s totally silent. I am sorry to be a person to complain, but why should we have to pay to listen or alter the way we listen to the radio. So I guess that the dealerships will be installing HD radio in the newer vehicles for 2012. This is not fair to the people that have supported this station since day 1. I am very concerned about the elderly, the nursing homes, they look forward to listening to the Yolanda Adams Morning show, Lonnie Hunter, Coco Brother. This station touched and healed many souls in the mornings, in our vehicles on the way to work, school, riding out of town, people in commas , people in nursing homes, people that are taking therapy. I hope that someone will be downloading all of the comments and taking this to Radio 1 and placing all comments on Cathy Hughes desk. The economy will not allow alot of people to purchase the HD radio or the receiver in order to listen to it in your vehicles, the elderly are on fixed income, people are trying to save every little penny in there pockets for hard times or just incase they become unemployed, alot of people have cell phones, but by listening to it on your phone, it will certainly drain your battery, everyone don’t or can’t afford an Android phone or they done have the capabilities to download (again extra $$ spent) The work environment, everyone’s not allowed to stream on the computers @ their jobs, nor get on the internet….
So again, Radio 1, WHY DON’T YOU ALL PLEASE ALL THE LISTENERS THAT HAVE SUPPORTED PRAISE 92.1 SINCE DAY ONE AND PLACE IT BACK ON THE ANALOG STATION AND STILL HAVE IT ON HD @ THE SAME TIME !!! IS IT POSSIBLE ? CAN IT BE DONE ? THIS HD (NEW TECHNOLOGY CRAP) HAS EFFECTED THE LISTENERS OF ALL AGES !!! IF THE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS, U DON’T KNOW HOW MANY KIDS WOULD CALL IN FOR PRAYER WHEN COCO BROTHER WOULD BE ON IN THE EVENING TIME. I DON’T NORMALLY SPEAK FOR PEOPLE, BUT I AM SURE THAT I CAN SPEAK FOR ALL THE LISTENERS ALL OVER THAT LISTENED TO PRAISE 92.1, WHEN I SAY ” PlEASE RETURN THE STATION BACK TO THE ANALOG STATION & STILL KEEP IT ON HD STATION FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO LISTEN TO HD ……… I PRAY THAT GOD HAS THE LAST SAY SO IN THIS SITUATION AND THAT WE ALL CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR A BREAK THRU, FOR THE STATION THAT HAS TOUCHED OUR LIVES, HOMES, FAMILIES, AND NON BELIEVERS WILL RETURN BACK WHERE IT BELONG !!!

PS. EVERYONE I KNOW AND I BELIEVE THAT EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT FOR PRAISE 92.1 LISTENERS ALL OVER . RADIO 1 PLEASE BRING PRAISE 92.1 BACK !!!

    Going out in Prayer Mode,

    Carmel-2-die-4

To: All Praise 92.1 (Analog listeners)

This is one email that I found maybe everyone need to send an email to this individual or see if this person knows how to get a contact or email address for Mrs. Cathy Hughes Email (djackson-rideaux@radio-one.com) . I feel if they have the authority to take Praise 92.1 off the Analog Radio station, Why don’t they have enough authority to leave it on the Analog Station and also add it to HD Station, and for the people that want to listen to Praise 92.1 in HD, they will have that preference to do so ! I believe that our voices need to be heard, like so many listeners have stated, this HD Format has affected the umemployed, fixed income, college students, the senior citizens, people that don’t have android, or people that can’t or they are not allowed to stream or be on the internet @ work or some don’t even have computers . Cathy Hughes please listen and read all these comments, I am sure that you will see how this have affected the Praise 92.1 Listeners.

    Going Out In Prayer Mode,

Question: I do know that every radio station has a person that does a segment of the news, as far as traffic, weather, etc. So what was the point of having this new station on 24/7 talking about the NEWS and what’s going on ……. Does that mean that the people that did the segment of the news on 97.9, 102.1, 92.1 no longer have their jobs? you all don’t realize driving in your car listening to the News, if I wanted to know what’s going on, that’s the reasons for having a t.v. and also having channels 2, 11,13,20,26,39,55 these channels have the news on from early morning til late evening. So again, why is there a need to have a News Radio station, if the News was such a HIGH DEMAND for HOUSTON, why could Radio 1 just create a new FM Station like 92.2 or 92.3 and put the HOUSTON NEWS ON THAT STATION ……….. I know that we are not suppose to question God, but i am questioning Radio 1 and Mrs. Cathy Hughes, after she ask for our support WHY ?????? WHY?????? WHY?????????

My 24 year old son has really been trying to grow, spiritually, and lead his family in that direction. For my son to come in the house and say to me, “Mom, what happened to our station, I really had my boys toned in too?” really made me sadder for him because it is difficult to get young people inspired through gospel. My little 4 year old grandson would reach over and turn the radio up when his favorite song came on. Oh he could really do the song, “In the middle of it.” I can’t believe this has happened. The last 3 days the only thing I hear on my BB app in the morning is commercials – no YAMS. Then, at 9 o’clock, the music programming starts. Has anybody else experienced this listening on a smartphone app?

  • http://twitter.com/tualawilliams Tuala Williams

My husband and I made the adjustment and downloaded the app. We understand it was an economical decision. But We have been listening to solid blocks of commercials from 5 to 6:30. That is a bad business decision, because we never signed on for advertising radio. It’s only a matter of time (and not that much time) before listeners give up on you and your audience drops, which will have an adverse effect on advertising. This will backfire on Radio One–unless you are trying to get listeners to drop you.

  • Anonymous

I think the block of commercials is a glitch in their system because I was listening this morning and yolanda played for a couple of minutes then it went back to commercials. Hopefully they will fix it. But until then, do what I did. I went to the philidelphia praise station website at http://www.praisephilly.com and got no only yolanda’s show but I am listening to Lonnie Hunter right now and Coco will be on later tonight. I also downloaded the praise 103.9 app. I get to hear all of the shows that I missed with the exception of praiseman and revelation.

The Praise Houston app is playing the YAMS again. I called Radio One Houston (713-623-2108) yesterday evening. I guess no one is monitoring the broadcast. Jason, thanks for the heads up about the Philly app. I tried it, but it’s not compatible with my Blackberry. I guess I’ll only be able to hear Lonnie, Coco and Donnie if I’m at home and I can listen online.

Cool, Good to hear that they got it back running again. Sorry to hear your blackberry isn’t compatable with the praisephilly app. You may want to try the washington DC praise station app at http://www.praisedc.com, praise 104.1, they also have all three shows; Yolanda, Lonnie and coco. But don’t give up on Houston because we will have a new gospel station soon! We are too big not to have one on regular fm, that everyone can reach. But until then, we have to do what we must to have our gospel!

I agree with everyone. This whole change caught me off-guard. My kids listen to this radio station everytime we were on the car on the way to and from school. At home, anywhere.I’m in disbelief. I’m hurt that this station brought so much to me , prayer, joy, the reminder that God always listens!!! Lonnie and his morning show was sucha blessing to me and yolanda had such inspirational messages. I felt joy when she came as a guest speaker to my church. I miss you guys!!! very much…. i wish you come back!!!!! if i want news, i cant get them anywhere!!!! Newspaper, t.v., computers,,, really you had to take OUR radio station?

love, a very hurt listener from houston, tx

  • Frances Goodbeer

I hate, hate, hate this option. This is so thoughtless to the masses and just one more example of avarice in our culture. Hopefully this “experiment” will soon fail and we can have accessible Christian music available in Houston. I miss listening to Praise in my car. So often the music and/or commentary and sermons would stimulate conversations with my daughter. So many life lessons were discussed and affirmed. We can so easily find news and secular music on the radio dial. Why would you make it more difficult to find food for the Christian soul? I miss this station as so many others do. Won’t you please reconsider?????

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/HYLCHGOPA55SWLXFI5R6W4GKAU Joel

I enjoyed 92.1, but I have to say listening to it on my phone is not the same. I was really disappointed with this decision. There are other christian based radio stations in houston but it’s more contemporary, 89.3 KSBJ is one. This station went HD as well but, remained analog and HD. I miss my gospel, but music does not make me whole, GOD does.
