ap_itawamba_100310_mnThe lawsuit, filed today in U.S. District Court, charges that 18-year-old Constance McMillen’s free speech rights were violated when school officials told her they would be enforcing the district’s policy that prom dates must be of “opposite sex.”

McMillen is dating a sophomore girl at the school. She requested permission from the school’s principal and the superintendent not only to bring her girlfriend, but to wear a tuxedo.

She was told, according to the lawsuit, that the pair would have to arrive separately and could be thrown out “if any of the other students complained about their presence there together.” McMillen was also told she could not wear a tuxedo, according to the suit, because boys are to attend in tuxedos and girls in dresses.

Amazing, Everyone is complaining and suing over their rights and freedom of speach. I wonder if I can sue the school district because my child is not allow to take his bible to class being that this is a part of his belief? Hummm, I wonder if he can where a BIG CROSS on his on his shirt on certain days because of his belief? Everyone seem to be fighting for rights. On my job there was a lady whos was accommodated certain times of day to go pray because of the faith and it wasn’t included as her break. I wonder if we are loosing rights or are we just giving them away and allowing those who would challenge to dismiss them to succeed with out a fight? It’s time to stand up for Christ or just sit down and accept what we are told like good little people.
