(HOUSTON) – Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston‘s pet food drive began Thursday.

The aniMeals on Wheels program is in place to help seniors feed their furry friends with out feeling compelled to share their limited food resources.

“The aniMeals program makes a big difference in the lives of our seniors because it ensures that they do not have to make the difficult decision of feeding themselves or their pet,” said Karina Hernandez, volunteer manager for Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston.

The drive started Thursday at 8 a.m. and will go through 6 p.m. at the W. T. & Louise J. Moran Meals on Wheels Building. The event continues through the weekend, ending Saturday at noon.

The program is completely supported by donations and volunteers, and it helps feed more than 1,100 pets each month.
