(HOUSTON) – If you deal with depression, you know, for the most part, it’s a deeply personal experience. And you never know what someone could be going through.

That’s true of a local celebrity. You may have heard him on the Q Morning Zoo on 93Q, Kevin Kline.

He’s a familiar voice to lots of Houstonians, but there’s something you might not know about morning DJ Kevin Kline: depression.

Kline suffers from bipolar disorder, with its terrible lows and manic highs.

“You don’t want to do anything,” Kline said. “You don’t want to have any interaction. You don’t want to get out of bed. You have very little energy. You’re lethargic. You couldn’t care less what happens to you, much less anybody else.”

You wouldn’t know it from his morning show persona, but he says getting help saved his life.

“And the thing we’re talking about with Robin Williams is he had everything, he was funny, he was rich,” Kline said. “Uh yeah, he didn’t have inner peace, he had inner turmoil and that’s what people with depression or bipolar disorder have.”

Kline says he was diagnosed in 1992, and a combination of professional help and marathon running help him to deal with the disease.

He says people who suffer from bipolar disorder should eat right, work out and get professional help in order to beat depression.
