(HOUSTON) — A pack of wild dogs were marauding their way through east Houston when they attacked a 13-year-old boy as he was coming home from school Thursday. Those dogs were all caught Friday and will be put to sleep.

BARC officials said nine dogs were involved. Eight male dogs were apparently going after a female in heat.

Authorities said the child was apparently in the wrong place at the wrong time, leading to the attack.

All of the dogs believed have been involved were picked up and will be put down. Their bodies will be tested for rabies.

One witness told KHOU 11 that the boy seemed in bad shape.

Officers chased the dogs through back yards, jumping fences without catching up with them. The pack disappeared into the dark.
