(HOUSTON) — A driver was rescued after a car plunged into Lake Houston on Thursday.

A woman in her 60s drove into the water off of the Duessen Park boat ramp around 9 a.m.

An HPD marine unit responded and found the vehicle in about five feet of water. As crews were pulling the car, rescuers saw a woman inside and pulled her to safety.

According to police, there was apparently an air pocket in the vehicle that kept the woman alive.
