On a night when the Astrodome renovation plan was shot down and the Harris County Joint Processing Center was narrowly approved, it seemed clear that voters were not in the mood to spend.

The Katy facilities bond went down to defeat even though supporters said it would not cause taxes to increase, but the bond would have spent nearly $70 million on a football stadium and the price tag split the community.

The defeat of the bond also means an agricultural sciences center and a technology, engineering and Mathematics center will also be scrubbed.

Many in Katy feel the growing school district does need a second football stadium so look for the district to come back with a scaled down proposal.
