(HOUSTON, TX)– RnB superstar Patti LaBelle was in a Houston courtroom on Thursday, testifying as part of an assault trial against her bodyguard.

Efram Holmes is accused of attacking West Point Grad Richard King at Bush Intercontinental Airport back in 2011. King says the attack against Holmes was unprovoked. But during testimony, LaBelle claimed King punched her son first. Holmes’ attorney’s Paul Doyle also claims king was drunk. A point he emphasized during cross-examination.

“Well, I think Mr. King told us at the end of the day, that he admitted to he lied to HPD. Mr. King told everybody on the stand when he finished up, he lied to them and never corrected it.”

Holmes is also suing LaBelle for a million dollars. Testimony will continue in the morning. The trial is expected to wrap up on Monday.
