An intense system of storms is moving into the area, which could result in serious damage and flooding across the Houston and surrounding areas.

The Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management says hail and rain are expected during rush hour, and could intensify as it approaches Needville before impacting the rest of the county. Meanwhile, rain and thunderstorm clusters may produce localized flooding and quarter-sized hail for 12 area counties.

Vehicles should be moved into garages and patio furniture and other objects which could become airborne should be moved inside or secured.

Now through 7 p.m., a line of thunderstorms from Wiemar to Katy could result in quarter-sized hail, 35 mph winds and up to an inch of rain. Washington, Colorado, Austin, Waller, Harris, Wharton and Fort Bend counties were included in that advisory by the National Weather Service, including the cities of Brenham, Columbus, Eagle Lake, Sealy, Bellville, Hempstead, Prairie View, Brookshire, Houston, Pasadena, Katy, Tomball, Humble, El Campo, Wharton, Pierce, Sugar Land, Missouri City, Richmond and Rosenberg.
