A grand jury has indicted longtime Precinct 6 Constable Victor Trevino on four felony charges that he misused funds in his office for personal gain. The charges include abuse of official capacity, misapplication of fiduciary property and two charges of tampering with a government document.

Constable Trevino has been under a lengthy investigation by Harris County attorney’s office as a result of allegations that he misappropriated funds.

Trevino was also accused of using his uniformed deputies to serve vacate notices to tenants which is not allowed under Texas law.

He was first elected constable in 1988. Before that, he served 13 years as an officer in the Houston Police Department.

Trevino could face jail time if he is convicted. Bill Moore, the assistant district attorney, told reporters “the story will be told in court.”
