According to friends and family, a beloved man and minster of Houston was shot and killed during a carjacking over the weekend.

The incident happened around 1:30am aturday at the Shadow Ridge Apartments in the 12200 block of Old Walters Road in north Harris County.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old Desmond Jones. Reports indicate that Jones ministered and played music at several local churches and was well known in the Houston church community.

Authorities with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office stated that Jones returned to the apartment complex after making a run for fast food. As he was parking, the suspects approached him and shot him twice; one of those shots was reportedly in Jones’ head.

The suspects reportedly stole the car Jones was driving and left him on the ground where he bled. He was rushed by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A prayer vigil was held for Jones who is survived by a wife and two daughters. The vigil called for the suspects in Jones’ shooting to be apprehended.

Investigators are looking for Jones’ car which is described as a silver 2012 Chrysler 300 sedan with chrome rims and Texas license plate number DS1-L815. The suspects who are described as only black males are considered armed and dangerous.
