It’s the dusting of bones and the drilling of platforms that are just some of the preparations that The Houston Museum of Natural Science is making as the museum will soon present its $85 million dinosaur exhibit. The exhibit, which is already being hailed as one of the best in the country, will open June 2.

Some of the features of the exhibit will be the only Triceratops skin ever found and a Tyrannosaurus Rex with three fingers. Museum goers will also be able to actually touch a fossil that’s 3.5 billion years old. Museum paleontologist Robert Bakker calls the upcoming exhibit “The Prehistoric Safari” that will take visitors on a journey through the evolution and development of dinosaurs that began 25 billion years ago. As scientists studied the enormous animals, their physical appearances gave clues as to how they lived. For example, the Triceratops had skin that showed scientists those animals were vegetarians and had bristles.
