A fatal accident shut down all southbound lanes of Highway 59 between Little York and Parker Road in the early morning hours of Monday. Police located an SUV as well as another car in which a driver appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle. The accident happened around 2:30 A.M. Monday morning.
Police worked early Monday to determine what caused the accident. Investigators believed the driver was thrown from the vehicle. Highway 59 North, known as the Eastex Freeway sees some 250,000 vehicles travel that stretch of 59 every 24 hours. The highway is expected to reopen during Monday’s rush hour.
