Funeral services for Kala Marie Schuchardt were held today at First Baptist Church in Willis.
Police say Schuchardt was shot and killed by suspect Verna McLain last Friday.
After shooting Schuchardt, reports McClain stole her newborn baby boy, Keegan.
The boy was later found unharmed.
Prior to Wednesday’s services, family spokesperson, Jay Smith, read a prepared statement,
“Kayla was the mother of three, a daughter, a wife, a sister and a dear friend to all who knew her.
The children are doing well, we do ask for continued prayers for the family and those who have been affected by this tragic event. The family would like to thank all of those who have supported them this past week. They have been very blessed.”
The family is asking that all donations for the children be made with Spirit of Texas Bank at 936.538.1000.
A benefit concert will be held June 10th.
Proceeds raised will go to a trust fund for Keegan and his two brothers, Kamden and Keaton.
