So spring is here and summer is vastly approaching encouraging everyone to toss the layers of clothing and bring out those fabulous sun dresses, skirts and sandals. While some churches still adhere to the traditional dresses over your knee, pantyhose and closed toe shoe looks for ladies, quite a few churches are accepting a more relaxed and casual look to welcome the younger crowd.

Lady Mia Wright, co-pastor of the Fountain of Praise Church with her husband, Remus E. Wright, spoke with Chron.com recently on youth not being taught how to appropriately dress in church. She gives her insight on how just a little positive re-enforcement goes along way.

The church has to be relevant to this next generation of people,” she said. “That means they have to come to church, but in order for them to come, we have to embrace where they are. The problem is many of them were not raised in church, and they don’t quite know the appropriate attire. We have to teach them.
