People always say that happiness is contagious, but a new study shows that it actually IS. According to a recent study, those in a social network can spread their own happiness among people at least three degrees removed from each other. So if you’re in a good mood, chances are you can perk up the mood of your best friend’s cousin without even trying!

One would think that sadness is just as contagious, right? We all know the ‘rotten apple’ analogy.

Not so!

Apparently sadness spreads as well, but not as quickly. Though we wouldn’t recommend being in a bad mood under any circumstances.
