Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson does not blame God for his bungled catch in a game Sunday, he now says, after an earlier Twitter post put him at the center of controversy.

On Sunday, Johnson dropped a game winning touchdown in the end zone in overtime. He sent this now legendary tweet:

@StevieJohnson13

I PRAISE YOU 24/7!!!!!! AND THIS HOW YOU DO ME!!!!! YOU EXPECT ME TO LEARN FROM THIS??? HOW???!!! ILL NEVER FORGET THIS!! EVER!!! THX THO…

Late Monday he took aim at clarifying his remarks.

learned A lot Within 24hrs. Saw Both Sides.(Ups&Dwns) I AM HAPPY & THANKFUL 4 YESTERDAY! w/out Sunday iWldnt have grew closer w/The Lord!!

He continued:

So Before Yall..well I’m pretty sure you’ve awready judged me. I hope you guys look n the mirror. I dnt blame u 4 being mad @ my gm I WAS 2!

And No I Did Not Blame God People! Seriously??!? CMon! I Simply Cried Out And Asked Why? Jus Like yal did wen sumthin went wrong n ur life!

In the midst of all the piling on by sports writers, religion, writers, CNN’s Jeane Moos (see above video), Johnson did receive one piece of encouragement from another famously vocal Christian athlete. Former NFL MVP Kurt Warner tweeted this to Johnson:

@StevieJohnson13 I asked same thing when released in STL & benched 3 times, But then God did his thing… Be ready! Enjoy watching you play!

You may remember Warner was plucked from obscurity in the Arena Football league and quarterbacked the St. Louis Rams to the Super Bowl. He was released a few seasons later and thought to be finished. He resurrected his career in the desert with the Arizona Cardinals leading them to their first Super Bowl appearance.
