Both Angela Bassett and Raven Symone are headed back to the small screen. The two have landed recurring roles in separate series at the ABC Networks.
Bassett, the newest member of the ABC drama “One Police Plaza,” will play NYC’s first female commissioner in the series.
The series, still in development, is being produced by Linda Fairstein, Kenneth L. Solarz and Gordon and Deborah Spera. Fairstein and Solarz are also onboard as the series’ writers.
Our other leading lady, Raven Symone will return back to her TV roots for the ABC Family comedy pilot, “The Great State of Georgia.” The show will center around Symone’s character, Georgia, an exuberant curvy performer from the south who is trying to make it big as an actress in New York City.
Brock Cuchna, Jennifer Weiner and Jeff Greenstein are also tapped to star in the project.
Symone started her career at 3 years old on “The Cosby Show” and worked nonstop for 18 years until the end of her show “That’s So Raven” in 2007. This will be her first recurring TV role since.
Bassett was last seen on TV in the 15th and final season of ER in 2008–2009. Her next two films “Jumping the Broom” and “Green Lantern” are scheduled for a 2011 release.
